Position Overview: The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic physician to take on the role of Medical Director for Adult Liver Transplantation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Adult Liver Transplantation program and serve as the UNOS administrator.
- Collaborate with a distinguished team of physicians and surgeons to enhance clinical care and academic research.
- Expand the existing ACGME-accredited fellowship program in advanced hepatology.
- Engage in clinical duties, including general hepatology and liver transplant services, with consultative responsibilities across multiple sites.
- Contribute to the education and mentorship of trainees and students, alongside scholarly activities.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess:
- A medical doctorate or equivalent.
- Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Board certification or eligibility in gastroenterology.
- Advanced training in transplant hepatology or equivalent experience.
Research Interests: We encourage applicants with research focuses in liver metabolism, alcohol-related liver disease, hepatobiliary neoplasia, or liver transplantation. Leadership experience in managing complex clinical operations is also valued.
