Job DescriptionThe Naval Architect position at Hornbeck Offshore is a critical role that requires a strong foundation in naval architecture, marine engineering, and project management. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for completing multiple discipline design work, technical documentation, and file management.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare naval architecture, marine engineering, and mechanical engineering design calculations using specialized software.
- Update drawings to reflect current vessel configurations resulting from project modifications.
- Exercise discretion in managing project issues, schedules, and budgets.
- Use technical knowledge to make decisions on current regulatory requirements.
- Perform stability and structural analyses to support fleet operations.
- Conduct surveys to gather field data.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies.
- Provide technical operational support functions, including responding to requests from vessel operations managers, the fleet, and commercial representatives.
- Maintain accuracy and currency of Vessel Specification Sheets in real-time.
- Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Entry-level to five years of professional experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Functional capability in AutoCAD, NavCAD, GHS, WSLP2, MathCAD, RISA 3D, AFT, and similar technical applications.
- Knowledge of MOSES and STAR-CCM software desired.
- Valid driver's license, TWIC, and passport.
- Problem-solving skills, including anticipating the impact of decisions and actions on others.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to accomplish objectives.
- Flexibility to changing priorities and work demands.
- Ability to multi-task and meet short-term deadlines.
The Naval Architect position requires regular and reliable attendance, with standard office hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Overtime may be required as necessitated by responsibilities and as directed by the supervisor.
