We are seeking a Transportation Safety Specialist to join our team at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). In this role, you will be responsible for providing security and protection of air travelers and airports. Your primary duties will include operating screening equipment and technology, performing searches and screenings, and controlling terminal entry and exit points. You must be able to work in a stressful environment, maintaining focus and awareness while dealing with disruptions and angry passengers.

To qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician. Alternatively, you can have a high school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency certificate. National Service Experience can also be considered. Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek, and part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio.

This job requires occasional travel, with a minimum of three weeks of travel in a full-time duty status possible for TSA's New Hire training. You must serve a basic trial period unless you have already met the requirement, and you must undergo a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation. Selective Service registration is required, and you must pass a color vision test, vision exam, hearing exam, and adequate joint mobility exam.
