GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Retail Merchandise Leader (RML) plays a crucial role in embodying Ulta Beauty's mission and values while leading a high-performing team to achieve outstanding sales growth.
This leadership position emphasizes performance (sales, inventory management, and operational compliance), team development (training and mentorship), and process adherence (standard operating procedures).
Success in this role requires a commitment to operational excellence, a results-driven mindset, and the ability to navigate challenges effectively.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Job Functions)
The RML is a representative of Ulta Beauty's core values and is expected to demonstrate these principles through the following responsibilities:
Performance
Foster a culture of accountability to achieve or surpass the store's objectives related to retail and service sales, customer loyalty, payroll management, omni-channel performance, and inventory shrinkage.
Utilize store forecasts and payroll budgets to optimize scheduling and communicate effectively with the General Manager to maximize productivity and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Regularly review and analyze financial and operational reports, including store audits, to inform decision-making.
Engage with customers through makeup applications, skincare consultations, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and customer service.
Stay informed about industry trends and product knowledge to better assist customers.
People
Attract, hire, and retain a diverse and talented team.
Build an engaged workforce that reflects the Ulta Beauty brand through effective communication and collaboration.
Support professional development through training, feedback, coaching, and succession planning to enhance team performance.
Model operational excellence by leading by example, sharing best practices, and establishing priorities.
Implement the Guest Engagement Leader program to enhance customer experiences and drive business results.
Process
Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies and procedures.
Adhere to the company's dress code and scheduling protocols.
Utilize task management tools to prioritize and execute store workload effectively.

Support continuous improvement initiatives by adopting company programs and communicating expectations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma preferred.
Experience
1-2+ years in fast-paced retail management or relevant experience.
Skills
Proficient in basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale systems, Microsoft Office).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Flexible full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mobility throughout the store during shifts.
Frequent bending, lifting, and use of technology.
