Job Description

Isidore Newman School is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our summer camp team as camp counselors. Our camp program is designed to provide a fun and engaging experience for children aged 10 months to 12 years.

Program Overview

Our summer camp program offers a variety of activities and experiences for children to learn and grow. We have three main programs:

  • Day Camp - designed for children aged 5-12, this program allows campers to choose from a range of activities and create their own daily schedule.
  • Sports Camps - our sports camps are designed for children aged 5-12 and focus on developing skills and improving athletic ability in a range of sports.
  • Green Trees Camp - our youngest campers (10 months-3 years) participate in a structured camp day that includes engaging activities, indoor and outdoor play, and rest.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in staff orientation, training, and required meetings.
  • Assist with the setup of camp, including moving supplies, equipment, and decorating.
  • Learn and follow camp routines and protocols.
  • Be a positive role model, keeping children safe, active, and engaged.
  • Work in a team of camp counselors to create an amazing and fun experience for campers.
  • Establish relationships with campers and support them throughout their camp experience.
  • Actively monitor campers throughout the day, maintaining a safe play environment.
  • Assist instructors with indoor and outdoor activity blocks and support campers in their learning.
  • Maintain healthy professional boundaries with campers.

Qualifications

  • Be of college age or above.
  • Have a desire and ability to work and play with children, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Have a growth mindset.
  • Be able to take guidance and supervision.
  • Be able to teach or assist in teaching an activity.
  • Display enthusiasm, a sense of humor, patience, self-control, and adaptability.
