Key Responsibilities:


Manage laboratory data systems and equipment to ensure accurate processing of laboratory test requests, including ordering, cancellation, and billing for all patient categories.

Conduct specimen collection procedures for both inpatients and outpatients. Execute non-technical specimen processing, preparation, and distribution of patient specimens.

Required Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION MANDATORY

High school diploma or equivalent, PLUS;

a. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program, OR,

b. Possession of a two (2) year degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences or a health-related field, OR

c.

Two (2) years of experience in specimen collection, processing, and requisitioning within a clinical laboratory or healthcare environment.

d. Clinical training in a Northside Hospital Lab as part of educational clinical rotations (high school or college level), OR

e. Valid and verifiable Phlebotomy Certification.

Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

Proficiency in understanding and applying precise procedures for specimen handling and clerical processing.

Must possess adequate tactile sensitivity and visual acuity to locate patients' blood vessels.

Effective communication skills are essential, along with strong written and verbal abilities.

Color vision acuity is necessary to safely perform the duties associated with this role.

All candidates must successfully complete a Color-Acuity screening Test.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

Familiarity with medical laboratory terminology.

Proven knowledge of computer systems and design.

Exemplary public relations skills and training in service delivery.
