Your Role

The position entails underwriting new and renewal Casualty accounts in accordance with Chubb guidelines, while also fostering business development from an assigned panel of Independent and Global brokers within your delegated authority.

This role necessitates the ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with a panel of brokers, alongside the tenacity and skill to pursue target accounts effectively.

Additionally, the individual will be responsible for establishing and executing business plans to maximize opportunities with those brokers.

Within Chubb, this role requires coaching and developing less experienced staff in both technical and interpersonal skills, demonstrating enthusiasm and the ability to make decisions independently or collaboratively with colleagues and managers.

Your Responsibilities
  • Engage in the Commercial Underwriting Process and Analysis.
  • Work within the Casualty department, managing an assigned broker panel.
  • Underwrite a portfolio encompassing Primary, Umbrella, and Excess Liability in alignment with Chubb's underwriting strategy.
  • Select new risks and underwrite renewals for the assigned book of business or designated specialty classes or market segments.
  • Organize and present significant, complex accounts for approval at Branch, Regional, or Global referral points as applicable.
  • Balance development work with managing the existing portfolio.
  • Handle accounts that include a mix of Australian indigenous business and Multinational programs, with typical premium sizes ranging from $25,000 to $1,000,000.
  • Act as a key player on multi-departmental accounts.
  • Provide technical leadership for underwriting and marketing within the department or branch, including risk referrals and portfolio management.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of pricing individual risk exposures.
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies, renewal negotiation strategies, and game plans for new business submissions.
  • May serve as a higher level of underwriting authority for others in the branch.
Relationship Management
  • Identify, analyze, and develop sources of desirable new business opportunities, including cross-departmental and pipeline opportunities.
  • Prepare, deliver, and negotiate quotations.
  • Collaborate with other product lines, including whole account underwriting and broker meetings.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key producers and insureds, addressing complex underwriting issues.
  • Present to prospective producers and may initiate new producer appointments.
  • Share insights regarding competitors' products and underwriting practices.
  • Provide expertise on accessing growth opportunities in specialty, customer, or product line groups.
