Job Overview

SUMMARY:

This role is essential for preparing and delivering wholesome meals for students in a safe and health-conscious environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares and serves meals in accordance with established menus and portion sizes as outlined by yield guides.
  • Conducts cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing equipment and workspaces, and washing dishes and pots.
  • Brews coffee, refills beverage dispensers, and organizes hot and cold food service areas.
  • Delivers food to staff, students, and catering events as needed.
  • Adheres to all state, federal, and local health department regulations regarding safe food handling.
  • Follows all security protocols and guidelines specific to the client location.
  • Inspects and organizes incoming supplies.
  • Observes assigned break schedules.
  • Collects and cleans trays for dishwashing and participates in ware washing duties when assigned.
  • Organizes silverware, dishes, glasses, cups, pots, and other kitchen items.
  • Participates in safety committee activities.
  • Attends all required training sessions and in-service programs.
  • Handles cash and manages POS systems as required for the position.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Supports the objectives and mission of Whitsons Culinary Group.
  • Meets all mandated food handling certification requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of all required training as mandated by Whitsons and other authorities.
Other Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English to understand and execute job tasks.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a professional food service environment.
  • Must consistently present a positive and professional demeanor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to sit, walk, talk, and hear.
  • Utilizes hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Stands for the majority of the workday and walks back and forth as needed.
  • Lifts and/or moves up to 40 pounds, with occasional lifting while turning side to side.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The work is primarily conducted in a kitchen and serving area.
  • Prolonged standing is required throughout the workday.
  • Involves movement in and out of storage areas and freezers.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to loud.
