Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7am-4pm

Position Overview

We invite you to become a vital member of our Electric Department team, under the guidance of the Electric Department Director. In this position, you will oversee all functions related to the Geographical Information System, which includes managing database updates and facilitating network/web access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain GIS system hardware and software
  • Troubleshoot GIS system challenges
  • Provide technical assistance to department personnel
  • Update and manage the GIS database
  • Collect GPS data accurately
  • Set up and maintain web mapping applications
  • Research and evaluate GIS software solutions
  • Supervise GIS interns and manage additional assigned tasks

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of computer hardware and software, particularly ArcGIS and ArcSDE
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Proficiency in using handheld GPS devices
  • Familiarity with Windows, MS Office, and other commonly utilized software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with the public and colleagues

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess a one-year certificate from a college or technical institution, along with two to three years of experience in AutoCAD, GIS, and drafting, or equivalent education and experience. A valid driver's license is required.

Essential Functions:

This position may involve occasional standing or walking, frequent sitting, manual dexterity, reaching, verbal communication, and auditory processing. The role may require lifting up to 50 pounds and working in environments with moving parts, exposure to fumes, and varying outdoor weather conditions. The work environment may be moderately noisy or loud in certain situations.
