Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Christus Health. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and processing blood and other bodily fluids for laboratory testing. This is a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients using various techniques, including venipuncture and capillary collection.
  • Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including labeling, packaging, and shipping.
  • Ensure accurate and timely specimen collection and processing, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff to ensure smooth specimen collection and processing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to infection control and safety standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including participating in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining continuing education requirements.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a phlebotomy program or medical laboratory technician program preferred.
  • One year of phlebotomy experience preferred; certification from a national accredited program is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
Work Schedule and Type

Per diem, as needed. Flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the laboratory and patients.
