Position Title: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Overview:
We are looking for a committed and passionate Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to provide essential support in delivering speech and language therapy services. This role is vital in assisting a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in enhancing students' communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Therapeutic Support: Aid in executing tailored therapy strategies established by the supervising SLP. Conduct therapy sessions with students as instructed, concentrating on enhancing communication, speech, and language proficiency.
  • Assessment Support: Assist the SLP in performing evaluations by collecting data, administering standardized assessments, and preparing necessary materials for testing.
  • Monitoring Progress: Observe and document students' advancements, identifying improvements and areas needing further assistance. Prepare reports and help adjust therapy strategies based on student performance.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work in tandem with the SLP, educators, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students. Participate in team discussions and contribute to planning student objectives and interventions.
  • Student Engagement: Interact with students in a constructive and encouraging manner, providing motivation and support to help them reach their therapy objectives. Address any behavioral or emotional considerations related to therapy.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain precise and current records of therapy sessions, student progress, and other pertinent documentation, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and state regulations.
  • Resource Management: Assist in the preparation of therapy materials and resources for sessions. Organize and oversee therapy tools and supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a related discipline.
  • Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) by the relevant regulatory board or eligibility to obtain.
  • Valid SLPA license.
  • Experience in a school environment is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities and attention to detail.
