Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Heart Failure Unit
Employment Type: Full-Time - Day/Midnight 12-hour shifts (Hours: 7a-7p / 7p-7a)
Schedule: Weekends and holidays as required.
Unit Overview:
The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital is a specialized 36-bed facility. It includes 12 beds designated for post-operative open-heart patients. These individuals require stepdown level care, often involving chest tubes/drains, large bore central line catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires. Patients are under continuous observation and receive daily assessments from the cardiac surgeon and a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Commitment to obtaining a BSN within three years of hire may be considered with relevant experience
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse is required
- Prior stepdown experience is preferred
- Previous critical care experience is preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred
- Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Delaware is necessary
