Job Summary:

As a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team. Under the indirect supervision, you will provide patient services using imaging modalities, perform a variety of angio interventional procedures on patients of all ages, and evaluate images for technical quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
  • Provide compassionate service, treat coworkers with respect and appreciation, and foster teamwork and positive thinking.
  • Identify the impact of cultural diversity and lifestyle choices on patient condition and make accommodations for such differences.
  • Consistently select correct technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the patient's age and body habitus.
  • Process radiographic images properly, utilize automated equipment, and use proper sterile technique.
  • Operate imaging computers properly and in accordance with department protocols (CT, MRI).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and use ancillary equipment (e.g., catheters, guidewires, etc.) properly.
  • Position patients accurately relative to the requirements of the study as stated in the department protocols.
  • Utilize various immobilizing devices such as sponges and sandbags whenever necessary to obtain acceptable radiographs and/or electronic images.
  • Take special care in handling/positioning patients with critical injuries or trauma to avoid further injury.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
  • Adjust technical factors relative to the requirements of the study and the physical maturation of the patient.
  • Modify patient positioning techniques relative to the patient's physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Take special care in handling, positioning, and/or restraining infants and geriatric patients to avoid injury or excessive radiation exposure.
  • Never leave infant, pediatric, or disoriented geriatric patients unattended.
  • Exercise good clinical judgment, consult with the radiologist or other clinician for purposes of clarifying orders, and select alternate or additional views appropriately relative to the patient's condition.
  • Document clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
  • Complete and initial the standard consultation form and the Radiology Processing Record accurately and immediately following each procedure.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a staff technologist in Interventional Radiology or successful completion of the department angiography interventional training program.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California).
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California).
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certificate of advanced qualification: ARRT-Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) and/or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV).
  • Venipuncture Certificate.
  • Additional training in the use and practices of angiography interventional procedures.
