Job Summary:

Dakota County is seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian to join our team. As a Registered Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing nutrition-focused health services to high-risk populations, including infants, children, and adults who are pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding. You will also provide guidance and support to WIC program staff and other public health staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete certification appointments for WIC participants, assessing eligibility, determining health and nutrition risk factors, and creating nutrition intervention plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans for high-risk WIC participants.
  • Document assessment, intervention plans, and outcomes in the WIC Information System.
  • Conduct follow-up nutrition assessments with corresponding nutrition education, using participant-centered services.
  • Perform public health emergency response functions as trained and assigned within the department's emergency response plan.
  • Promote a diverse, inclusive, culturally competent, and respectful workplace.
  • Promote the department, division, and county's mission and vision.
  • Promote a culture that values excellence, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics with a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or a Coordinated program in Dietetics (CP) accredited by the Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) with Completion of a supervised practice ACEND accredited Dietetic internship.
  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian.
  • Current licensure by the Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice as a Licensed Dietitian or Licensed Nutritionist or ability to obtain prior to the first date of employment.
  • Certificate in CPR including infants or completion within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for the WIC program.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations and clients with limited English proficiency.
  • Completed lactation education/training and/or experience working with lactating individuals.
  • Bilingual skills are desirable.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in County office building and in community settings. Moving or transporting of items up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis is required. Exposure to hazardous physical conditions, hazardous materials, and equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, printer, calculator, telephone, copy and fax machines, Hemocue, adult and infant scales, recumbent and standing measuring boards.

Selection Process:

The examination/selection process for this classification will consist of a rating of your training and experience from the application materials submitted. The top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
