Job Title: General Foreman

Job Summary:

Mueller Water Products is seeking a highly skilled General Foreman to lead our production team in Chattanooga, TN. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating production activities to meet daily and monthly goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct production operations in accordance with established priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Lead and mentor production supervisors to ensure goals are met and to instill professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate employee productivity and behavior, providing constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Manage or route employee relations issues appropriately and timely.
  • Partner with Operations Managers, Supervisors, Production Planning, and Materials departments to establish production schedules and combat production issues.
  • Assist Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Engineering personnel in testing, troubleshooting, and modifying processes to improve production methods and quality of products.
  • Abide by ISO requirements and safety procedures in meeting or exceeding goals established for safety, labor efficiencies, schedule attainment, scrap, rework, and any other production-related goals.
  • Supervise and assist in the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Initiate, suggest, and implement plans to motivate, empower, and develop workers to achieve work goals in a team environment.

Requirements:

  • Strong, proven leadership background leading employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including the use of Office Suite and especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to operate with a sense of urgency and distribute time-sensitive and accurate data.
  • Comfortable coaching, developing, and holding others accountable.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully achieve goals through influence.
  • Understanding and ability to drive LEAN principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and machine from those prints.
  • Ability to assess, perform, and train others in production processes and equipment.
  • Technical expertise in manufacturing.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using JD Edwards E1 ERP system.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use hands to handle, feel, or manipulate objects with fingers.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, and reach within hands and/or arm's length.
  • Ability to frequently stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders or steps in confined spaces, as required by work area.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects between 25 and 50 pounds in weight in all directions.
  • Ability to remain in stationary or standing position for prolonged periods and to alternate between positions as necessary.
  • Ability to perform close visual inspections of products, which may include specific vision requirements.
  • Ability to work in an open warehouse environment, subject to seasonal weather (hot/cold).
  • Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer.
  • Ability to safely drive/operate motorized equipment/PIT.
