Job Overview

Position Summary: The primary duty involves the setup and operation of the HP Digital Press. The operator is tasked with conducting visual and specification quality checks on each print run while continuously monitoring quality and press conditions. Efficiency in press operation and waste minimization are crucial. The role also encompasses maintenance of the press and requisitioning necessary supplies, all while adhering to safety and housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up jobs according to job tickets and product specifications, which includes pre-flighting files, color adjustments, staging, and queuing.
  • Complete job start-up procedures and quality sign-off, ensuring all specifications and visual checks are met.
  • Operate the digital press to produce products that meet customer specifications while minimizing waste and maximizing efficiency.
  • Order all supplies necessary for operating the digital press and producing high-quality digital labels, including inks, coatings, and machine parts.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the press and associated equipment.
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance program, coordinating with local HP service professionals as required and submitting Maintenance Request Forms for repairs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols for material handling and machine operation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Report any safety hazards to the supervisor or safety team representative.
  • Engage in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
  • Experience in operating a digital press or a minimum of 2 years in web and/or offset printing is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal and external communications to perform job duties effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure are necessary.
  • Capability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to identify the root cause of problems and determine corrective actions.
  • Proficient knowledge of production materials, quality methods, and color standards is necessary.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of prepress/preflight processes are preferred.
  • Able to frequently stand and walk, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Schedule: All shifts available. This is a full-time position.
Compensation: Based on experience, starting at $24.00 per hour.
