Job Summary

The Packaging Machine Operator - Production Specialist is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of packaging machinery and equipment at Central Garden & Pet Company. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on packaging machinery and equipment to ensure peak efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with packaging equipment promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure that packaging machines are calibrated correctly to maintain the quality and consistency of packaging materials and products.
  • Ensure that all packaging machinery adheres to safety regulations and protocols to protect workers and prevent accidents.
  • Quickly identify and address operational issues that may arise during packaging processes to minimize disruptions.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance to track maintenance schedules and identify areas for improvement.
  • Operate forklifts to load/unload materials.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of previous experience operating manufacturing machinery.
  • Mechanical knowledge/aptitude required.
  • Team oriented.
  • Able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds and stand for an 8-hour work shift.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and communication.
  • Understanding of what the machine is for, how it works, and best practices.
  • Able to wear required safety gear when necessary to operate machinery.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Must always be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
