Job Summary:
The Cook Supervisor - Dietary Department Lead will oversee the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring that meals are prepared and served to residents in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor dietary department personnel to ensure that they are following established policies and procedures.
- Contribute to performance evaluations of subordinates with the Dietary Manager.
- Assist with production planning, including forecasting needs and developing recipes.
- Ensure that the dietary department produces an aesthetically pleasing, quality product within budgetary guidelines.
- Utilize all kitchen equipment, including steamers, blenders, electric slicers, food processors, grills, and ovens.
- Respond to resident requests on short notice.
- Assist the Dietary Manager in planning and preparing for special events.
Requirements:
- Must hold ServSafe Manager certification.
- Ability to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights, as well as lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure, and record data.
- Attention to detail, good follow-through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to supervise and instruct others.
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
- Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
- Ability to communicate with residents, staff, and family members in a professional manner.
