Job Summary:

The Cook Supervisor - Dietary Department Lead will oversee the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring that meals are prepared and served to residents in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor dietary department personnel to ensure that they are following established policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations of subordinates with the Dietary Manager.
  • Assist with production planning, including forecasting needs and developing recipes.
  • Ensure that the dietary department produces an aesthetically pleasing, quality product within budgetary guidelines.
  • Utilize all kitchen equipment, including steamers, blenders, electric slicers, food processors, grills, and ovens.
  • Respond to resident requests on short notice.
  • Assist the Dietary Manager in planning and preparing for special events.

Requirements:

  • Must hold ServSafe Manager certification.
  • Ability to unload and stock groceries on shelves of various heights, as well as lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, perform simple math calculations, measure, and record data.
  • Attention to detail, good follow-through skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct others.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
  • Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
  • Ability to communicate with residents, staff, and family members in a professional manner.
