Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications and treatments in a safe and organized manner.
  • Review and document medication administration records.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Care Director and Wellness Nurse to ensure accurate medication administration.
  • Conduct Service and Health Updates as directed by the Resident Care Director.
  • Participate in the development of Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and monthly updates.
  • Transcribe orders and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and British Columbia Workers Compensation Act regulations.
  • Practice safety procedures at all times, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and fire extinguishers.
  • Report all accidents and incidents immediately.
  • Ensure cords, carts, equipment, and other hazards are kept out of the way and in compliance with fire codes.
  • Comply with infection control techniques and procedures.
  • Understand and practice proper methods for attending to and disposing of blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, infectious waste, sharp sticks, and hazardous materials.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
  • Ensure oxygen tanks are stored safely and exchanged when empty.
Qualifications:
  • LPN, LVN, or state/province specific licensed nurse credential.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Ability to make choices and decisions in the resident's best interest.
  • Ability to react and remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Written and verbal skills for effective communication and level of understanding.
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
