Job Title: Lactation Consultant and Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lactation Consultant and Educator to join our Labor and Delivery Department at Harrison County Hospital.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing lactation education and support to new mothers, as well as teaching childbirth education classes to the public. This is a full-time position, working days and evenings, with a 40-hour workweek.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide lactation education and support to new mothers, including one-on-one consultations and group classes.
  • Teach childbirth education classes to the public, including prenatal and postpartum education.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Nursing to develop and implement lactation education programs.
  • Assess and evaluate the lactation education needs of new mothers and develop plans to meet those needs.
  • Provide education and support to new mothers on breastfeeding techniques and troubleshooting common issues.
Requirements:
  • Active Indiana State Registered Nurse License.
  • CPR Certified.
  • NRP Certified.
  • Corporate Compliance.
  • Annual Flu vaccine.
  • Annual Fire/Safety Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year experience as an OB nurse or nurse with childbirth education training.
  • Lactation counselor certification.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
