Surgical Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Inpatient Surgical Unit at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes.
About the RoleThis is a fast-paced and dynamic environment where you will have the opportunity to hone your nursing skills and take the next step toward critical care in a Level 2 Trauma facility. As an Inpatient Surgical RN, you will provide direct nursing care for pre and post-surgical patients, including total joint replacements, bariatric, orthopedic, general, and more.
Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
- BLS certification required.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of NH or valid compact state.
- Associate Degree from an accredited school of nursing required, BSN preferred.
