Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrument Technician Lead to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a key member of our Sterile Processing department, you will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, overseeing the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization process of instruments, and ensuring the highest level of quality and safety.


Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily operations and ensure efficient workflow in the Sterile Processing department.
  • Oversee the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization process of instruments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
  • Collaborate with the Sterile Processing leader to develop and implement process improvements and quality control measures.
  • Train and mentor new staff members on Sterile Processing procedures and protocols.
  • Assist with the coordination of maintenance and service of equipment as needed.
  • Perform audits of sterilizer and quality assurance documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Inventory materials and supplies to ensure adequate quantities are available for operations.
  • Collaborate with Leadership to resolve complex situations and ensure effective communication with team members, providers, vendors, students, and visitors.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:


  • A high school graduate or equivalent.
  • CRCST or CSPDT certification, or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Sterile Processing field and the ability to maintain current professional expertise.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote positive relationships within the department and with hospital personnel.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.

Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of SPD experience and leadership or supervisory experience.
