Job Title: Civil Engineer, Conveyance

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team as a Conveyance Specialist. As a key member of our water resources group, you will be responsible for designing and developing water conveyance systems, including gravity sewer pipes, force mains, water distribution systems, and water transmission mains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams on water conveyance projects across the Southwest.
  • Conduct technical evaluations supporting planning and design of sewer collection systems and interceptors and water distribution and transmission mains.
  • Serve as Engineer-of-Record, leading the preparation and delivery of project technical specifications and civil engineering construction documents.
  • Manage existing client relationships and develop new client relationships.
  • Supervise the work of engineers and other project staff, including setting priorities for their scope of work, task budget and schedule deliverables for completing the work in collaboration with the Project Manager(s).
  • Evaluate, select, and specify civil and mechanical engineered systems or products for projects.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate and/or lead value engineering approaches and project constructability reviews.
  • Serve as the Project's point of contact with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.
  • Engage in leadership of professional organizations that align with professional expertise; write technical papers and deliver technical presentations at conferences and symposia events.
  • Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects, and support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews, and supporting negotiations for project contracts.
Qualifications:
  • Sound understanding of conveyance design principles, including planning, design, and construction, such as sewer collection design, water distribution and transmission main design, pipeline rehabilitation methodologies, and trenchless construction methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking experience.
  • Experience with various project delivery methods and construction methodologies, especially trenchless applications, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Experienced with the use of hydrologic and hydraulic network modeling and design software, which may include AutoCAD Civil3D, InfoWORKS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, in accordance with expertise.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree desirable.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Arizona, or ability to obtain registration within 6 months required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in water, wastewater, and/or stormwater conveyance design projects.
