About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at WSP USA. As a Lead Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise on design projects, participating in conferences and panels, and attracting new clients. You will also be expected to coordinate and manage project teams and small to mid-size projects, support existing client relationships, and direct and delegate design elements on individual projects to early-career engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise on design projects and participate in conferences and panels.
- Attract new clients and ensure customer satisfaction by delivering well-thought-out technical designs and submitting high-quality deliverables.
- Coordinate and manage project teams and small to mid-size projects.
- Support existing client relationships and continue to help grow these relationships.
- Direct and delegate design elements on individual projects to early-career engineers.
- Mentor and teach design elements on individual projects.
- Prepare, manage, and review project deliverables, including planning, design, and construction documents, project reports, environmental studies, and geotechnical reports.
- Provide coordination with other design disciplines and remote office locations.
- Provide leadership, direction, and performance guidance to ensure all staff are well-supported and provided with opportunities for growth and professional development.
- Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment, and successfully manage multiple projects and task assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in NC or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in Civil Engineering and/or a related engineering field.
- Awareness of scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, project managers, business leaders, sub-consultants, and technical staff.
- Demonstrated excellence in providing creative solutions and high-quality technical performance and oversight through innovative thinking and application of tools and/or processes.
- Demonstrated experience of leadership, personal accountability, persistence, and goal-oriented.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, regulators, and company-wide staff.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Advanced proficiency with discipline-specific design software and tools.
- Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of projects.
- Proven success in leading staff and delivering various types of infrastructure projects.
- Ability to support proposal write-up and reviews as well as participation with request for qualifications.
