Job Summary
As a Urology Ambulatory Practice Specialist at Prisma Health, you will provide direct patient care, education, and support to patients in the physician specialty practice setting. You will function as a clinical and community resource, educator, and consultant, utilizing advanced nursing knowledge and experience to influence nursing practice in assigned settings.Key Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care in an outpatient physician practice setting, maintaining an advanced knowledge base of disease entities, medications, and other treatment options specific to the medical specialty.
- Assesses and evaluates extensive health history, evaluates effectiveness of care, and makes changes according to predetermined care plans or after consultation with physicians.
- Performs phone triage accurately, involving physicians when needed, and uses critical thinking skills and advanced knowledge to handle the majority of patient concerns.
- Triages current patient population and incoming referrals, prioritizes scheduling of office visits and testing, and works with physicians to determine scheduling of emergent patients.
- Identifies learning needs of patients and/or families, works with team members and community resources to develop and carry out educational plans, and modifies the process as needed to ensure educational objectives are met.
- Assists with in-office procedures, provides comfort and safety measures for patients before, during, and after procedures, and assumes responsibility for patient safety by maintaining a safe environment.
- Champions the development, implementation, and evaluation of PI projects and policies and procedures specific to the specialty area, mentors and assists new team members until they are proficient, and evaluates own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards, guidelines, state statues, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
- 1 year of Clinical Nursing Experience within specialty or related applicable specialty.
- Licensed to practice as a RN in South Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in specialty area.
- IV insertion and maintenance experience.
Work Environment
Day shift, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours as needed.
