Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Nocturnist Hospitalist - WellMed Networks, Inc

WellMed, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a skilled healthcare professional to join our team in Austin, TX. As a member of our Optum Care Delivery team, you'll be part of a clinician-led care organization that's changing the way clinicians work and live.

Position Highlights:

  • Lead a collaborative and comprehensive healthcare team
  • 7 Nights On / 7 Nights Off
  • Manage crossover calls, ER admissions, and transfers at night
  • Focus on a single payor system
  • 100% of patients will have a WellMed primary care provider

Our Quality vs. Quantity Model ensures a typical census per hospitalist is 10 to 13 patients per day. This means you'll have the opportunity to provide high-quality care to a limited patient panel, with a focus on geriatrics with Medicare Advantage coverage.

Compensation/Benefits Highlights:

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners OR Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas State Medical Board
  • Valid DEA license
  • 1+ year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant
  • Comfortable managing a primarily Medicare-aged patient population
  • Ability to work 12 hours at night on a regular basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency
  • A working understanding and support of a managed care environment
