Job Summary

The Medical Assistant is a vital member of our dermatology team, providing exceptional support to our physicians and patients. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience, from initial contact to post-procedure care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Room patients, update medical histories, and document reason for visit and history of present illness
  • Assist physicians with office procedures, including biopsies, surgeries, and treatments for various skin conditions
  • Work as part of a team to see a patient volume of up to 40 patients per day
  • Perform basic scribing responsibilities, including taking and documenting patient HPI, updating medical histories, and prepping for surgical procedures
  • Prep and assist with numerous surgical and cosmetic procedures, including ED&Cs, shave/punch biopsies, ILK, I&D, and others
  • Demonstrate strict sterile techniques, numb treatment areas as directed, and remove sutures as needed
  • Log pathology and transmit pathology orders to appropriate lab, input templates, and scribe chart notes as required by physician
  • Process RX refills and submit prior authorizations, operate Narrowband and photodynamic therapy units, and fill liquid nitrogen containers for daily use
  • Clean and stock patient examination rooms and supply areas, follow infection control practices, and maintain regular and reliable attendance
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-3 years of medical assistant experience, preferably in dermatology
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications

The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds. Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer.

Required specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
