We are seeking a Controls Automation Specialist to join our innovative team. This role is pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Controls Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the afternoon shift in the Transmission Assembly and Machining sector. Your tasks will include:
- Enhancing control systems and machinery by leveraging Factory Information Systems (FIS) data.
- Leading efforts to diagnose and resolve equipment performance challenges.
- Coordinating troubleshooting initiatives; organizing resources to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Facilitating training sessions for manufacturing staff and plant electricians.
- Integrating control systems with IT frameworks such as Factory Information Systems (FIS), Error Proofing, QWX, and QTS.
- Diagnosing issues related to machinery, robotics, automation, and control systems.
- Utilizing FIS plant monitoring tools to analyze equipment cycle times.
- Overseeing project installations and ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Reprogramming machinery for engineering modifications and enhancements while maintaining program backups.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Controls Engineering within a manufacturing context.
- Proficiency in PLC logic and controls, with experience in Siemens and Modicon programming.
- A strong interest in controls engineering and a demonstrated ability to quickly assimilate and apply knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with assembly and machining control architectures (both hardware and software).
- Familiarity with programming principles for Siemens, Schneider, Bosch PLCs, as well as CNC and Motion control systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC, CNC, robotic, and other automation-related issues.
- Knowledge of cell machining systems and the integration of CNC controls, gantries, and auxiliary equipment is advantageous.
- Understanding of ABB/FANUC robotics.
- Experience with assembly and machining RFID systems, including complexity management and QOS strategies.
- Familiarity with Vision Systems.
- Knowledge of international electrical and safety standards (UL, ISO, IEC, etc.) and internal/external safety processes (risk assessments, PSS, integrated safety, etc.).
- Ability to interpret controls (electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic) schematics.
- Understanding of communication network architectures and field bus protocols.
- Associate's Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering; Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
- Experience collaborating with senior management, process engineering, safety, IT, and production teams.
- Self-motivated and directed, with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- A robust manufacturing background with a focus on production-related controls experience, with flexibility to work off-shift or in a 4-crew environment.
