CNC Programmer Job Description

Lofton Staffing & Security is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team. As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for developing programs to produce machined parts on computer numerical controlled (CNC) lathes and mills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans.
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, and setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation.
  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, and design data to calculate correct part dimensions and machine settings.
  • Set up and operate CNC machines, maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced.
  • Read instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts being machined within specified tolerance.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years' experience as a CNC Programmer programming with 2D/3D CAM/CAD software in a shop environment.
  • Experience programming for and operating multiple axis CNC machines.
  • HAAS control experience a plus.
  • Ability to convert metric to SAE required.
  • Experience creating and mounting fixtures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Training in general safety awareness and practices.
  • Working knowledge of using calipers & micrometers.
  • Ability to fluently read and write English, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Intermediate to advanced shop math.
  • Proficient using a PC in a Windows environment.
