Overview
In alignment with the mission of Northern Arizona Healthcare, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for orchestrating comprehensive care for patients and their families. This includes direct patient care, educational support for patients and families, as well as planning for discharge. The RN utilizes a systematic approach encompassing assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver effective care. The RN also plays a pivotal role in guiding ancillary staff, acting as a team leader, mentor, and integral participant in the nursing practices that adhere to the ANA Scope of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the specific standards of their specialty.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
* Evaluates the needs and conditions of assigned patients by collecting pertinent health information.
Develops individualized care plans based on identified outcomes and implements strategies to achieve expected results.
Monitors patient progress towards goals, adjusting diagnoses, outcomes, and care plans as necessary.
Enhances patient experience by delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care while ensuring privacy and treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
Conducts frequent evaluations of patient conditions and modifies care plans accordingly.
Employs aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments while adhering to infection control protocols.
Upholds infection prevention standards consistently.
Collaborates effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Assists with procedures and patient transport throughout the facility as per established policies and procedures.
Education
* Engages in fostering a learning environment supported by evidence-based practices and research.
Focuses on personal development and actively participates in professional interactions with colleagues and students.
Collaborates with peers and other healthcare providers while participating in ongoing training and educational seminars.
Involves in mentoring and educating fellow staff and students.
Compliance/Safety
* Adheres to all regulatory and organizational standards impacting patient care and safety, along with hospital and departmental policies. Practices in a manner that is safe, high-quality, and cost-effective.
Remains informed and compliant with state and federal regulations and organizational policies relevant to the role.
Ensures all necessary certifications and licenses are current and valid as required for the position.
Completes all mandatory training and job-specific modules within designated timeframes.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, electronic medical records entries, and patient responses.
Responsible for promptly reporting any safety-related incidents through the appropriate channels; participates in safety training programs; performs duties safely; monitors the work environment for potential safety issues and ensures compliance among peers.
Qualifications
Education
RNs hired on or after July 1, 2016, must graduate from a BSN program within six years of employment in an RN role.
Existing staff RNs hired before July 1, 2016, are not mandated to possess a BSN but are encouraged to pursue a BSN degree.
Certification & Licensures
Active, unrestricted Arizona RN License or valid participating compact license - Required.
BLS - Required.
ACLS - Required.
ATCN or TNCC - Required within 18 months of hire.
NIHSS - Required within 30 days of hire.
CCRN - Preferred.
Experience
