Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
Valid Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License to practice nursing in the State of Illinois.
EXPERIENCE
No prior clinical experience is necessary beyond educational qualifications.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Excellent interpersonal abilities. Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team. Proficient in understanding and applying guidelines, policies, and procedures. Previous clinical experience in a medical setting is advantageous. Strong computer literacy. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Excellence and Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers and clinical staff in gathering essential vital information, preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures. Exhibit proficiency in clinical skills required for assigned duties. May involve drawing blood and collecting samples for laboratory analysis. Implement the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) within licensure boundaries. Conduct telephone triage, providing and documenting advice for home care of illnesses/conditions; perform follow-up calls regarding patient health and progress as needed. Administer vaccines and prescribed medications via oral, IM, SQ, or ID routes. Insert urinary catheters and IVs as per protocol and licensure. Schedule patient referrals to specialists or outpatient services as directed by the provider. Complete necessary forms or requisitions for referrals or lab tests, including appropriate coding. Understand inpatient and outpatient specialty procedures. Ensure compliance with precertification requirements. Maintain a tracking system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, lab tests, and procedures to monitor patient disease status. Provide timely and accurate documentation in the patient's electronic health record using standardized workflows. Supervise delegated tasks to LPNs and CMAs following approved clinical protocols.
- Professional Development and Patient Education: Stay informed about developments in the clinic/department and organization by attending meetings, reading communications, and regularly checking the organization's intranet. Adhere to CLIA, OSHA, Safety, and Risk Management guidelines. Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures, including Compliance, HIPAA, and workplace rules. Exhibit consistent attendance and punctuality. Demonstrate initiative to enhance quality and customer service by striving to exceed patient expectations. Educate patients and families using the Teach-back method in accordance with protocols. Balance team and individual responsibilities; remain open to feedback and contribute to team goals, prioritizing team success over individual interests. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinic Administrator to ensure the efficient operation of the office.
