Job Title: Construction Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Construction Laborer to join our team at Idaho Materials & Construction, a CRH Company. As a Construction Laborer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of construction duties to assist highway, utility, grade crews, or at various on-site plant locations.
  • Operate ground compactors, levels out and rakes dirt, sets string markers, and removes items within the area to be paved.
  • Set up fencing, barricades, and/or safety cones to block off the work area as needed.
  • Prepare manhole covers, openings, and water lines. May insert risers as needed.
  • Walk behind paver machine to shovel and rake asphalt as it is applied to the ground.
  • Level out asphalt with rake and use shovel to dig out manhole covers and water valve boxes that are buried by the asphalt.
  • Clean asphalt off tools and equipment after each work day.
  • May assist with operating equipment as needed and if trained, including paver, roller, backhoe, water truck, etc.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Previous related experience in the construction field is a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondences and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
Physical Requirements:
  • Grip with at least 75 lbs. of force.
  • Climbing in, around, and on equipment.
  • Heavy lifting of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • Carrying awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. for 50 feet or more.
  • High lift of up to 50 lbs. floor to shoulder.
  • Flexibility - awkward reaches.
  • Balance - including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
  • Vision - 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
  • Hearing - corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers.
