Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. As an SLP, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.

Your primary goal will be to help patients improve their speech and language skills, as well as their ability to swallow. You will work with adults and children who have disabilities or experienced traumatic events that left them with speech, voice, or swallowing impairments.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Analyzing diagnostic tools and results to identify an accurate diagnosis and develop an effective treatment plan.
  2. Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech, and language difficulty.
  3. Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs.
  4. Teaching patients how to make sounds, improve their voices, and maintain fluency.
  5. Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language.
  6. Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow.
  7. Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders.
  8. Communicating diagnoses, test results, and available treatments in terms that clients and their families can understand.
  9. Exhibiting compassion when working with individuals frustrated by the difficulties they are experiencing.
  10. Using critical thinking skills to adjust treatment plans as required and identify alternative ways to help.
  11. Maintaining notes on treatment and progress.
  12. Listening to concerns and symptoms of clients to decide the most appropriate course of treatment.
Qualifications

Active and unencumbered Speech Language Pathology License or Certification.

Recent Speech Language Pathologist experience in a rehab setting.

BLS certification.
