Position Overview
The Veterinary Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and technicians in delivering quality care. Responsibilities include monitoring hospitalized animals, managing inventory, preparing medications, conducting routine laboratory tests, educating clients about veterinary practices, and assisting in surgical procedures.

Essential Duties
- Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures.
- Conduct outpatient exams, including taking histories and vital signs.
- Prepare animals for surgery and monitor their condition during procedures.
- Collect samples for laboratory testing and manage in-house diagnostics.
- Perform radiographic imaging while adhering to safety protocols.
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations.
- Administer medications, anesthesia, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Maintain cleanliness in exam rooms and treatment areas, ensuring all supplies are stocked.
- Exhibit professionalism and compassion in all client and patient interactions.
- Communicate effectively with the veterinary team regarding patient care and client concerns.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment, with assistance for heavier loads.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and proper use of PPE.
- Basic math skills for medication dosage calculations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Strong communication skills to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
