Job Overview:
The Street Sweeper Operator is tasked with the operation of a street cleaning vehicle to uphold the cleanliness of roadways, parking facilities, and other specified locations. This role necessitates a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement, along with the capability to maneuver a street sweeper truck safely and efficiently. The operator is also accountable for maintaining a secure and tidy work environment at all times.
Key Duties:
- Drive the street sweeper truck to clean streets, parking lots, and other designated locations.
- Transport the street sweeper truck to and from job sites, adhering to all traffic regulations and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the street sweeper truck, reporting any concerns to the supervisor.
- Abide by all safety guidelines, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and exercising caution in high-traffic areas.
- Ensure the cleanliness and operational readiness of the street sweeper truck, including fluid checks, minor repairs, and reporting significant issues to the supervisor.
- Monitor the cleanliness of the work area and communicate any safety hazards or potential issues to the supervisor.
- Operate additional equipment and carry out other cleaning tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement.
- Prior experience operating a street sweeper truck is advantageous.
- Physical endurance and the ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Basic knowledge of repairs and maintenance is beneficial.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow directives.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
- Effective communication skills for reporting issues to the supervisor.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and weekends as required.
