Key Responsibilities

Builder Trainee Opportunity

If you aspire to cultivate a career with a distinguished leader in the homebuilding sector, this role may be the perfect fit for you. We are currently looking for candidates to fill the position of Builder Trainee within our residential operations.

This is a full-time, entry-level position that offers significant potential for professional development and career progression within a nationally recognized homebuilder.

As a Builder Trainee, you will gain valuable experience while assisting a seasoned Builder on-site in high-volume communities or across multiple locations, all within a structured training framework.

The Builder Trainee Program is meticulously designed to equip and prepare Trainees for future Builder roles at Drees Homes. Participants will gain exposure to every aspect of the construction process, from customer plan signing to the first-year warranty program. Training will encompass shadowing, classroom instruction, and hands-on experience through a comprehensive program consisting of nine modules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the progress and quality of all ongoing construction projects.
  • Establish and uphold high performance standards for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Manage material usage to control costs effectively.
  • Proactively address customer inquiries regarding the building process.
  • Participate actively in subdivision and model maintenance.
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and other safety protocols.
  • Create punch lists for framing, mechanical, and insulation tasks.
  • Utilize internal software systems to track job completion progress.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

  • Ability to assist with scheduling, cost management, and quality assurance.

  • Capability to hold subcontractors accountable for their performance.

Requirements:

  • 2 or 4-year degree in Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience in construction (this may include internships or short-term roles during education).
  • Basic computer proficiency; experience with iPads is advantageous.
