Unit Overview

The 7 North West unit comprises 33 beds dedicated to bariatric surgery, alongside urological and colorectal procedures. We also provide care for patients recovering from reconstructive plastic surgery and various general surgical interventions. Additionally, we cater to medical patients, especially those with digestive and abdominal conditions. Our commitment is to deliver the highest standard of care within a patient and family-focused environment. Together with our counterpart unit, 7 NE, we are recognized as the Bariatric units at Spectrum Health and have achieved Bariatric Accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

About Spectrum Health

Spectrum Health has been acknowledged as one of the leading hospitals in Michigan and is a prominent academic and referral center, featuring Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Our center's advanced capabilities and clinical expertise have earned us Magnet designation for four consecutive terms and the honor of hosting Michigan's inaugural Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant will deliver patient care in accordance with the established care plan, unit protocols, and hospital policies under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include:

  • Safely transporting patients using wheelchairs or stretchers, ensuring proper documentation of services provided.
  • Serving as an Observer for patients requiring constant monitoring, either in-person or through remote video systems, to enhance patient safety.
  • Performing general clerical and receptionist duties to support the efficient operation of the nursing unit.
  • Accurately documenting care provided in the electronic medical record system.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or nursing home setting is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is preferred.

Employment Details

Employment Type: Part-time

Shift: Night

Weekly Scheduled Hours: 24

Hours of Work: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM

Days Worked: Saturday to Sunday

Weekend Frequency: Every third weekend
