We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Jefferson Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Under the direction of a radiologist, physician, and/or preceptor, utilize diagnostic ultrasound equipment to perform general examinations and produce high-quality ultrasound images for diagnostic purposes and interventional procedures.
- Exercise good judgment in ascertaining necessary measurements for the area being examined and perform all computer processing for all ultrasound examinations.
- Deliver patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in a professional and courteous manner, consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Perform sonographic examinations on patients using ultrasound equipment for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes, properly positioning patients and locating and scanning areas for interpretation by the physician or radiologist.
- Instruct patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Assemble all pertinent patient information and images, delivering them to the radiologist/physician for interpretation/review following established procedures.
- Provide staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards when operating equipment.
- Utilize and optimize the use of all software applications, including the PACS system, and maintain and update patient records and information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy.
- Maintain ultrasound and lab equipment and examination rooms in a clean and well-organized condition.
- Perform other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including those related to quality assurance/control.
- Enrolled or graduate of an approved course in medical sonography.
- Completion of the SPI examination within 6 months of hire.
- Certification by either RDMS, RVT, or ARRT (S) one body part within 2 years of hire.
- Active BLS certification.
Covid vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson Health for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated, you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to the hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision, or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI fingerprint-based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three are completed satisfactorily.
