Key Responsibilities:

  • Licensure: A valid Registered Nurse (RN) License is mandatory.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effectively in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Nursing Process: Consistently apply the nursing process in delivering patient care.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and leadership to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Competency Development: Maintain and enhance knowledge and competencies that reflect current nursing practices.
  • Data Collection: Systematically collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health, involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Outcome Management: Complete assignments thoroughly and accurately to achieve expected patient outcomes.
  • Lifelong Learning: Commit to ongoing professional development through continuing education and participation in professional organizations.
  • Care Planning: Develop individualized care plans that outline strategies to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Quality Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the quality of nursing care provided by the team.
  • Staffing Needs: Identify staffing requirements for shifts and take action to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Patient Rounding: Conduct regular rounds to assess patient and staff outcomes.
  • Shift Reporting: Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to the incoming Charge Nurse at the end of shifts.
  • Patient Assessment: Accurately assess the clinical condition of patients and prescribe appropriate nursing actions.
  • Ingenuity: Exhibit resourcefulness and initiative in completing assignments and participating in team activities.
  • Data Prioritization: Prioritize data collection based on the patient's immediate condition or anticipated needs.
  • Compliance: Stay informed and compliant with new developments and technologies relevant to nursing responsibilities.
  • Standards Knowledge: Utilize knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation standards in practice.
  • Complaint Management: Address patient and family complaints promptly and effectively.
  • People Management: Engage in management activities for team members, including performance evaluations and interviews.

Qualifications:

  • Required: Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Required: Associate's Degree
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Required: Minimum of 3 years in Nursing/Patient Care
  • Preferred: 1 year in a related specialty area
  • Required within 90 days: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Required if applicable: Unit Specific Certifications
  • Required if applicable: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Required if applicable: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Required if applicable: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Travel Requirements: Rarely required.
