Job Title: Yard Mule Driver

The Mundy Companies, a leading industrial maintenance, services, and construction company, is seeking a skilled Yard Mule Driver to join their team in the Beaumont, Texas area.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Yard Mule Driver to operate heavy equipment and perform various physical and labor-intensive tasks to move cargo and trailers around plant property. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and moving containers and dry vans to and from the sea bulk line, safely operating a Yard Mule Truck, and assisting with the loading of freight.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and move containers and dry vans to and from the sea bulk line
  • Operate heavy equipment and perform physical and labor-intensive tasks to move cargo and trailers around plant property
  • Safely operate a Yard Mule Truck and assist with the loading of freight
  • Perform pre-shift mechanical inspection of assigned company truck (Yard Mule), truck cargo, equipment, and supplies
  • Couple and uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions and verify that the vehicle and loading equipment are positioned properly and secured safely
Requirements:
  • Three (3) years of experience driving one or both of the following heavy equipment: mule driver or tractor trailer
  • Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training within the first 2 months of employment
  • Ability to handle safely and efficiently heavy containerized, palletized, or loose cargoes in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
Physical Requirements:
  • Subject to physical and/or DOT screening is required along with other tests as applicable
  • Continuous sitting (while driving), grasping, and exercising eye-hand coordination and eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Frequent climbing, balancing, bending forward, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, pinching, and reaching overhead
  • Frequent standing, walking, and exercising repetitive foot motion
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
