Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Vascular Ultrasound Specialist is responsible for conducting diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing ultrasound technology, adhering to protocols established by the radiologist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment, process images, and prepare the examination room with necessary tools and supplies.
  • Ensure the selection of appropriate technical parameters, produce high-quality diagnostic images, and demonstrate proficiency in equipment operation.
  • Maintain professional credentials and fulfill continuing education requirements for certification.
  • Assist physicians during invasive procedures as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks including clerical duties, scheduling, transportation, inventory management, and cleaning as required by the medical imaging management team.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred certifications include RDMS, RVT, or RVS; BLS certification required upon hire (American Heart Association).
  • RVT or RVS certification must be obtained within 18 months for sonographers with less than one year of experience.
  • RVT or RVS certification must be obtained within 6 months for sonographers with more than one year of experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program.
