Description

The City of Roanoke is looking for a dedicated Custodian to carry out cleaning duties in the maintenance and upkeep of facilities according to established cleaning standards. Responsibilities include:
  • Dusting and cleaning furniture and equipment
  • Washing windows, walls, and other surfaces
  • Sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors
  • Loading and unloading cleaning supplies and equipment

The ideal candidate will possess a valid Virginia driver's license and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Collecting and disposing of waste from assigned areas
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies
  • Preparing cleaning solutions and materials for various tasks
  • Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies
  • Responding to special cleaning requests from departments

Qualifications

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, along with relevant experience in custodial or maintenance work.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks.
