Position SummaryThe King's Academy is a Christ-centered institution committed to a Biblical worldview. We are seeking a Marching Band Instructor who embodies the values of Jesus Christ and is passionate about our mission. This role focuses on guiding, educating, and motivating students in the discipline of marching band performance. Responsibilities include conducting rehearsals, crafting engaging and educational lesson plans, and nurturing a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for student musicians. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in music education, marching techniques, and leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Organize and lead rehearsals for the marching band, covering music instruction, drill design, and performance techniques.
- Commit to all rehearsals and competitions.
- Instruct and reinforce marching fundamentals, including choreography, formations, and transitions.
- Provide both individual and group instruction to students on their instruments and overall performance skills.
- Develop rehearsal schedules that balance musical and visual elements.
- Oversee all aspects of performance preparation.
- Encourage and mentor students, fostering a collaborative and positive environment within the band.
- Offer constructive feedback and support to help students enhance their skills and achieve their potential.
- Collaborate with others to promote the success of the band program.
- Maintain effective communication with students and their families regarding expectations and progress.
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience in marching band instruction.
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience in marching.
- Proficiency in multiple musical instruments.
- Thorough understanding of marching band arrangements.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Aptitude for designing and implementing effective rehearsal and performance strategies.
- Dedication to serving and loving Jesus Christ.
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Positive, adaptable, resourceful, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to connect with and support students.
- Active participation in a local Christian community.

- Work will be conducted both on and off campus.
- May require lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Seasonal work typically occurs from July to November.
- The Marching Band and Color Guard schedule is established each spring.
- Annual start and end dates will be determined by the band calendar and departmental needs.
- If the instructor specializes in percussion, there is an opportunity for Winter Percussion from December to March.
- Pay Structure: VPA Marching Band Instructor
- Salary Range: $3,500 - $7,500 annually
- The listed amounts represent the total pay for the entire season based on expected hours worked. Actual pay will be determined by relevant experience. The starting salary reflects the minimum for this position, while the upper range represents the maximum for this role.
