Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, BMI, respirations, and pulse.
  • Collect and process specimens as directed by the provider, ensuring accurate tracking and logging.
  • Ensure patient care areas are adequately stocked with unexpired medical supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare patients for scheduled procedures, adhering to Standard Precautions.
  • Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, tracking and reviewing test results as needed.
  • Administer vaccines, medications, and controlled substances under the direction of a licensed nurse or provider.
  • Document prescription requests and refills, processing them according to established protocols.
  • Perform basic office procedures, examinations, and tests as ordered by the provider.
  • Provide patients with standard care instructions and education, reviewing with family members as directed.
  • Obtain comprehensive health information from patients and family members to review with providers or clinical resources.
Requirements
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program or National Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Proficient communication skills, including SBAR technique.
  • Ability to navigate and enter information into an electronic health record.
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to work independently.
