Job Summary:

The Gay Mens Chorus of South Florida is seeking a highly skilled and creative Conductor Associate to join our team. As a key member of our artistic staff, you will work closely with our Artistic Director to lead our chorus to new heights.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in rehearsals on a regular basis, providing guidance and support to our singers.
  • Lead vocal coaching sessions for designated individuals, helping them to improve their skills and confidence.
  • Conduct rehearsals and performances in the absence of the Artistic Director, demonstrating your ability to lead and inspire our chorus.
  • Rehearse and conduct assigned concert selections, working closely with our Artistic Director to ensure a high level of artistic excellence.
  • Conduct sectional rehearsals as assigned, helping to build a strong and cohesive sound.
  • Participate in auditions as requested, providing feedback and guidance to our singers.
  • Handle music licensing and rehearsal recordings as needed, ensuring that our performances are of the highest quality.
  • Assist the Artistic Planning Team and the Artistic Director in repertoire selection and programming, helping to shape the artistic vision of our chorus.
  • Serve as the Conductor of vocal ensembles as may be assigned, leading our smaller groups to new heights.
  • Provide additional support to the Artistic Director and the artistic team as may be required, demonstrating your flexibility and teamwork skills.

Requirements:

  • Position works primarily evenings and weekends, with occasional daytime commitments required.
  • A minimum of two years conducting experience, with a strong track record of success.
  • A Master's Degree in Choral Conducting is preferred, but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:

The position is a contract position at the rate of $1,500 per month.
