Job Title: Class A CDL Delivery Driver

At Performance Foodservice, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class A CDL Delivery Driver to join our team. As a key member of our delivery team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering food and food-related products to our customers across the country.

Job Summary:

The Class A CDL Delivery Driver will be responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, delivering and/or unloading food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner. This role requires excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner.
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally.
  • Perform all required safety checks, including pre/post trip inspections, and report any safety issues or repairs required.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas, and verify delivery of items with customers.
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required, and load customer returns onto the trailer.
  • Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.
Requirements:
  • Valid CDL-A license and a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout the shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 0-6 months of commercial driving experience.
  • Foodservice distribution industry experience.
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e. PeopleNet).
  • Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e. POD).
  • Customer service-related work experience.
