  • The rehabilitation specialist delivers therapeutic interventions and patient support in accordance with institutional, state, professional, and federal standards and protocols. This role necessitates proficient communication abilities for engaging with patients, families, caregivers, and both departmental and interdepartmental collaborations; expertise in therapeutic evaluation, assessment, care planning, and intervention; delegation of tasks and oversight of rehabilitation assistants and technicians; and maintaining continuous communication with hospital departments to ensure the needs of patients, staff, and the institution are met. The rehabilitation specialist fosters an environment and culture that enables the institution to achieve its mission by prioritizing patient safety and delivering patient-centered care.
  • Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited Rehabilitation Therapy Program is preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: A valid state license in Rehabilitation Therapy is required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also necessary.
  • Experience: Experience in inpatient and/or acute care settings, particularly with patients facing orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurological, or integumentary challenges, is preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make informed decisions, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills in both written and verbal formats, as well as through electronic correspondence.
  • Must be capable of working independently without direct supervision.
  • Familiarity with general office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, calculators, and computers.
