As a Helicopter Pilot with Air Methods, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transportation of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within an assigned operational area. This role requires a high level of expertise and attention to detail, with a focus on compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and Air Methods policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Flight Operations: Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, completing pre-flight checks and ensuring the aircraft is airworthy.
- Compliance: Maintain thorough knowledge of FAR, AIM, and Air Methods policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Communication: Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public, striving to maintain a friendly and professional working environment.
- Documentation: Complete required documentation, including flight logs and other relevant records.
- Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with two to five years of related experience and/or training.
- Certifications: Instrument rating (for category and class of aircraft), Fixed wing multiengine rating (for twin-engine aircraft), Commercial single-engine land rating (for single-engine aircraft), and First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
- Experience: 2000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1500 flight hours in category, 1000 hours PIC in category, 500 hours of rotor wing turbine, 200 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 50 hours at night, 100 hours unaided night as PIC, and 50 hours total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category.
