Position Overview

The University of Alabama at Birmingham, within the Department of Ophthalmology, is seeking a dedicated Optometrist with a focus on Low Vision. This role is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The primary duties will encompass patient care, with opportunities for didactic and clinical education as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive patient care in a clinical setting.
  • Engage in educational activities, including teaching and mentoring.
  • Participate in the UAB Center for Low Vision Rehabilitation.

Essential Qualifications
Candidates must possess a degree from an accredited optometry residency program and hold eligibility for licensure with the Alabama Board of Optometry.

Desirable Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with additional subspecialty residency or fellowship training.
