This Medicaid Fraud Lawyer position is responsible for handling all issues associated with advising the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit within the Bureau and prosecuting the cases related to Medicaid provider fraud and elder and patient neglect, abuse, and exploitation.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the State of Montana in simple and complex criminal prosecutions in justice courts, district courts, and the Montana Supreme Court.
- Work with other attorneys in the Attorney General's Office and local prosecutors to evaluate investigations for civil prosecution.
- Act as advisor to Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of DOJ and Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) regarding fraud and elder and patient neglect, abuse, and exploitation issues.
- Prepare training materials for presentation and distribution regarding the practice of criminal law in Montana and regarding provider fraud and elder and patient neglect, abuse, and exploitation specifically.
- Conduct or assist with training of law enforcement, prosecutors, and/or agency attorneys or staff regarding such topics.
- Juris Doctor Degree.
- At least two years of specialized law and litigation experience.
- Admission to and maintenance of licensure from the State Bar of Montana.
- If licensed in another state, must be able to become licensed to practice law in Montana within one year of hire.
